There is—it’s called food. If you design your diet to supply the right nutrients and neurotransmitters, you can eventually create enough serotonin and other happiness hormones to keep the blues at bay. In this talk, we’ll learn exactly how food can help us banish the blues and build a more blissful brain.

Feed Your Inner Woman
(Diet and Women’s Health)
Women go to the doctor four times more often than men, and it’s not just because we’re more in tune with our bodies. What used to be called “female troubles” account for a large portion of those doctor’s visits: Over 40% of women have fibroid tumors. By age 60, over half of American women have had their uterus or ovaries removed. Up to 25% of American women suffer from some degree of osteoporosis. One in 8 women will develop breast cancer. And untold others suffer from PMS, debilitating menstrual cramps, reduced fertility, and aggravating symptoms of menopause. This class shows how proper diet and nutrition can go a long way toward alleviating these problems and nurturing the strong, powerful women we are meant to be.
Calcium, Osteoporosis, and Your Bones
Osteoporosis is responsible for 1.5 million fractures annually, and up to 25% of American women suffer from some degree of osteoporosis. Women have a 40% chance of experiencing at least one spinal fracture by age 80, which can lead to loss of height, severe back pain, and deformity. A hip fracture usually leads to hospitalization, major surgery, and a 15-25% greater chance of being placed in a long-term care institution within a year. Although women are four times as likely to suffer from osteoporosis, men can also be affected. Fortunately, bone is living tissue, which can rebuilt with the right diet and lifestyle practices. But you are not a statistic. You can dramatically lower your personal risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems by making some simple lifestyle modifications.
This workshop aims to eduate us about our personal risk factors for cardiovascular disease, then equip us with a specific action plan for lowering our risk of cardiovascular disease right away, starting immediately.
The Hidden Dimension of Health: Your Microbiome
Did you know that only 10% of your body’s cells belong to you? The other 90% are the microorganisms that live in and on your body. The tiny creatures that form our microbiome are critical to our health. They help protect our bodies from harmful invaders, manufacture the vitamins that nourish us, regulate our weight, and perform a wide variety of other helpful tasks that keep us healthy. Nevertheless, many things we do can maim, sicken and kill these helpful creatures, with disastrous results for our health, including unexplained weight gain, frequent infections, inflammation, and digestive illness such as inflammatory bowel disease. Come learn how to take care of your microbiome so the creatures that inhabit it can take care of you.
Saving the World on 3 Meals a Day:
Eating to Protect the Environment
Did you know that the type of food you eat has more impact on the environment than the type of car you drive? The things we buy and consume have a tremendous effect on our environment, and most people buy more food than any other type of purchase. Are You Acid or Alkaline?
How Your pH Balance Affects Your Health
Do you awaken in the morning with a sour taste in your mouth? Does your mouth taste sour after eating? Do you feel tired or irritable? Do you suffer from cavities, osteoporosis, arthritis, digestive upsets, or frequent infections? Do you sometimes get sores on your mouth or tongue? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, you may have acidosis, a condition responsible for most of today’s common illnesses, especially degenerative illnesses. Come learn how the pH balance of your tissues holds the key to health, energy, and long life, and how the food you eat and your daily activities can restore your body to optimum pH balance.
Macrobiotics means “big life.” Its purpose is to help us lead long, happy, healthy lives. And it really works!
So what exactly is macrobiotics? If you know anything about feng shui, tai chi, qi gong, shiatsu massage, or acupuncture, you already know a lot about macrobiotics. Like those arts, macrobiotics is a way of harnessing energy to help us improve our lives. But unlike those disciplines, macrobiotics focuses largely on food, since food is one of the simplest ways to improve our health and energy quickly. Come learn how you can use some basic macrobiotic practices to feel perkier, look more vibrant, maybe even drop a few unwanted pounds.
Macrobiotics and Cancer:
A Complementary Approach to Prevention and Healing
According to the National Cancer Institute, one in every two men will develop cancer within his lifetime, and 23% of American men will die of cancer. One in every three women will develop cancer and 20% will succumb to that cancer. The statistics are alarming, but there’s hope. It is possible to beat the odds. How?
The American Cancer Society advises that diet and lifestyle play a role in the development of cancer. This is good news. It means that by changing your own diet and lifestyle, you can greatly increase your chances for a long and healthy life. Macrobiotics is a philosophy that advocates a diet that goes beyond the recommendations of the American Cancer Society. Many individuals have improved their health through macrobiotics. How did they do it? Why does it work? This seminar will give a basic overview of macrobiotics and its approach to cancer, including the basic macrobiotic diet, special foods known to shrink tumors and fight cancer, and other factors that increase your ability to avoid or heal from cancer.
A General Approach to Yin Cancers (Breast and Skin)
The ancient Chinese classified all phenomena into one of two types: yin or yang. According to macrobiotics, cancers (and all other diseases) can likewise be classified as yin or yang. Using this ancient understanding of the world, we will begin to look at the universe and our own bodies in a new way. We will learn which foods, parts of our bodies; even our activities and aspects of our personalities are “yin” and “yang.” We will then use this newfound understanding to discover how to treat yin style cancers such as cancers of the breast, skin and other yin organs.
A General Approach to Yang Cancers
(Prostate, Colorectal, Ovarian, Uterine, Pancreatic)
This seminar will include much of the same introductory material as contained in the preceding seminar, “A General Approach to Yin Cancers.” After an exploration of the principles of yin and yang, we will use this newfound understanding to discover how to treat yang style cancers such as cancers of the prostate, colon, rectum, ovaries, uterus, and pancreas. We will include a discussion of foods that trigger yang cancers, foods helpful for healing yang cancers, and how to deal with a yang cancer that has metastasized to a yin site.
Outsmart Your Bad Health Habits
Many people set health goals, educate themselves about good health, and plan to eat better and exercise. Even with all that preparation, we can still have difficulty sticking to our plan. But there are some special tips and techniques that make it possible to program our brain, both consciously and subconsciously, so that we begin to behave differently. In this session we will learn how to use the latest research on psychology, willpower, and behavior to outsmart bad health habits and overcome obstacles to good health. We’ll provide practical tips for putting this research into action, so you can get and stay in peak condition.
Set and Reach Your Health Goals
If I asked you right now, “Quick, what are five changes you could make in your life right now that could lead to a longer, healthier life?” you could probably come up with some pretty good suggestions. So why aren’t you doing them already?
Knowing what to do, and translating that knowledge into action, are often two entirely different things. This workshop draws on my background in business and nutrition to bring you the secrets of how to set and achieve your health goals. It borrows principles from business management, from the teachings of Dr. Stephen Covey (author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People), motivational speaker Tony Robbins, the Franklin time management system, and my personal experience with clients. Participants will leave this workshop with a complete set of written health goals and an action plan with timelines for achieving those goals.
Meal Planning Workshop
Do you search your cupboards and find nothing appealing for dinner? Have you run out of ideas for tasty meals? Do you spend too much money on take-out? Do you spend too much time wondering what to make for dinner? Do you start to prepare a meal, then find you’re lacking essential ingredients? All of these problems can be solved by the simple practice of creating a weekly meal plan. When you have a meal plan, it’s like putting your skis in a track and coasting down a slope. Shopping for and preparing healthy meals becomes almost automatic. In this workshop we will learn different techniques for meal planning, then work together to create a week’s worth of healthy, delicious, practical menus, so participants will have hands-on experience in creating a meal plan, and be able to take home a meal plan to begin using right away.
The Body Electric:
The Care and Cultivation of Your Energetic Body
Your body runs on electricity. Just plug yourself into an electrocardiogram, electroencephalograph, or polygraph machine, and you’ll be able to measure your personal power supply. But how can we charge ourselves up, keep our energy running smoothly, and maximize our “life force?” Join us as we examine the mysteries of our energetic bodies and discover natural techniques for brightening our auras and achieving “good vibrations.”
The Tao of Food
You know that food has vitamins, minerals, fat, carbohydrates and protein. But did you know that food also contains energy, or chi? That a carrot has chakras and meridians? And that the nature of the energy in your food can affect your own energy by strengthening it, weakening it, agitating it, or calming it?
In this unique class, we will discover how food converts to waves of energy that travel to different organs or locations in our bodies, and that where the energy ends up depends on the type of food we ate to begin with. We will evaluate our own personal energy and determine adjustments to benefit each person’s unique body and lifestyle. We will learn which foods contain which types of energy, (such as strengthening, tightening, relaxing, or weakening), how to determine which part of our body a particular food is likely to affect, how to predict the energy of an unfamiliar food, how cooking affects the chi of our food, and how to harness the different types of energy from our food to strengthen and heal the different organs and systems of the body. This class will allow you to tailor your diet to infuse your own body with the quality of energy you want. And ultimately, it will empower you to use these different forms of energy to set an overall direction in life and place yourself on track to get there.
What we will cover:
• A peek behind the material curtain—how energy runs the world.
• What quantum physics tells us about nature: from atoms to pre-atomic particles to energy and back again
• How energy moves: wave dynamics and mechanical resonance
• Different types of energy
• How to recognize energy in food
• How to recognize energy in the body
• Quiz: what type of energy do you have?
• How the energy in food and the body interact
• How to manipulate the energy in your food and cooking
• Tailoring your diet and cooking to set a new direction in life

What Your Body Is Saying About Your Health
You already know a lot about your body’s signals. When your stomach rumbles, it’s time to eat. When you sneeze, expect a cold.

Are you often angry and impatient, or are you more laid back? Do you have hidden insecurities? Your voice even reveals the state of your health–such as whether you prone to frequent infections, are your heart and lungs strong, do you have a tendency to depression, or do you suffer from chronic disease? A trained listener can determine all this and more from the moment you begin to speak.
This workshop will help you develop your ability to “read” the voices of those around you. Each participant will also receive an analysis of how they sound to others. You will then get a toolbox of tips to allow you to strengthen your voice so that every word you speak conveys strength, power, and confidence.
Yin and Yang:
How the Creative Energies of the Universe Affect Your Body and Your Health
Life and death. Male and female. Love and hate. Health and illness. These are examples of the two great creative forces the ancient Chinese called “yin” and “yang.” These two forces combine to produce all the phenomena that make up our universe. When we understand how these energies work, we can harness their creative powers to improve our health, guide our lives, even make predictions about the future! We will learn:
- Why our body isn’t as solid as we think.
- How the basic building blocks of life aren’t amino acids or atoms, but energy.
- How to analyze the energy in our bodies, and adjust it when necessary.
- How to use different foods to make modifications in our own energy.
- How the way we cook our food can alter its energetic nature, and thus our own health.
- How other energies around you affect your health, including your surroundings, your hobbies, and your friends.
The Road to Enlightenment Is Through Your Stomach
Mystics, yogis, and spiritual masters throughout time have recognized that food directly influences our spiritual progress. In fact, what we eat has a greater impact on our spiritual development than almost any other single spiritual practice. That is because the food we consume becomes our cells and our consciousness. And it all takes place in the time it takes to swallow!
Come and learn how food can strengthen our life force, align our spirit with the energies of the universe, and open our minds to worlds of higher vibrations and possibilities. You will discover which foods increase intuition and make you peaceful, positive and alert, and which foods magnify negative emotions, deaden our senses, and interfere with clarity. We’ll even learn some tips for the care of your aura.
Find (and Achieve) Your Life’s Purpose
Life today can seem crazy. With so many choices, challenges and distractions, it’s becoming harder and harder for people to discover and reach their life’s goals.
Believe it or not, the food you eat can have a tremendous impact on your ability to find and fulfill your purpose. Your food builds the cells in your brain, nervous system, glands and organs; therefore, it influences whether you feel lost, confused, and overwhelmed… Or purposeful, focused and motivated. It can even help you find, and reach, your dreams.
This workshop is for you if:
- You would like to discover your purpose in life.
- You have a hard time staying focused and on track.
- You feel overwhelmed by details, minutiae, and distractions.
- You have a hard time making or sticking with decisions.
- You would like to feel more motivated.
- You know what you want, but just don’t have the energy to get there.
Learn which foods and cooking styles will support your dream and which will hinder it. You will discover:
- Which cooking style depends on energy used by the Russians to brainwash their enemies and make them susceptible to the influence of others.
- Which food the Japanese withheld from the Chinese during World War II to make them easier to conquer.
- Which food creates feelings of dependency.
- Which foods disperse your energy and scatter your thoughts.
- Which foods promote calmness, stamina, and clear thinking.
- Which foods give you “backbone,” and help you feel strong and decisive.
- Which foods connect you to the rhythms of the universe and your own true inner being.
At the end of this informative session, you will come away with a simple action plan to help you set (or reset) your inner compass, and navigate your way to your dreams.
The Magic Square
Most people have never heard of the magic square. Yet its secrets can unlock the mysteries of the universe: how energy travels, how space and time interact, how to predict the future, and even more powerfully, how we may influence the future. The magic square is the basis of the knowledge contained in the I-Ching, the practice of Feng Shui, 9-Star Ki astrology, and much more. This class will provide an introduction to the magic square and how to use it to improve your surroundings, your health, and your destiny.
Nine Star Ki

Come equipped with the birthdates of friends, business associates and family, as well as pen and paper. We see an entertaining meeting in your future!
